My kids, 2.5 and 1, both liked this when we first got it. I bought it to keep them busy in the car and for the first leg of the trip it did. There is not much to it though and my 2.5 year old was quickly bored by it. My 1 year old likes it when I get it out after she hasn't seen it for a few days, but it has about a 5 min life span before it's again tossed aside. There is not enough opportunity for exploration to keep babies interested. The repetition of the two songs it plays gets old very quickly for me as well.

We LOve Scout!
We made a great choice when we bought this little toy! my grandson loves to open it ( and close it and open it and close it) and "type" just like the rest of the family, and he can easily manage to make it play as the keys are prominent and work with ease. Lots of fun sounds, music, and has a really sweet and lovely"voice" when it guides us along as to what to push next etc. I'm not usually that impressed with plastic toys, but I really like this one. ( baby is six months old and has started to play with "Scout" about two weeks ago.) Good Luck!

Isn't even out of the box, and already a favorite :)
We got this for a steal on a lightning deal! We are giving it to our 1 year old for Christmas. Since she won't really understand anyway, we let her play with it some after it arrived. Keeping it in the box, she still had a ball! She pushed the buttons, danced, shrieked, giggled, etc. She pointed to it and smiled a bunch, to make sure we were paying attention. When twinkle twinkle little star came on, she got very quiet and just smiled :) I wrapped it tonight, and I can't wait for her to open it and play with it out of the box! She loves it so much now, I can only imagine how crazy she will go when she can carry it around, and then open/close it on her own :)
